As we have now published and sold books in the Muggle world, we are happy to have our own Muggle web site. We thought our first item on the web site should be a reprint of the request for information printed in the Daily Prophet.

Request for Information On Unlisted Fantastic Beasts

As Newton Artemis Fido Scamander has retired, we are appealing to all witches and wizards to help us catalogue all new or newly discovered fantastic beasts. As many people have noticed, there is no mention of Blast-Ended Skrewts in the 52nd edition. So we know that eventually a new edition will be required. The ban on Experimental Breeding passed in 1965, has effectively prevented the creation of new and untamable monsters within Britain. However, not all countries have seen fit to enact similar laws.

It is therefore requested that you send us information on any other beasts that should be included in the next edition. Before you contact us, please ensure that the beast you are sending information on is not already listed in the 52nd edition. You may purchase the book at any magical book shop or, since there is now a special edition available to Muggles, from a Muggle book shop. Purchasing the Muggle edition will also result in a donation being made to a Muggle charity called "Comic Relief".

Note: it is not necessary to include proof, nor will proof be asked for. Independent verification will be made by employees or representatives of the publisher, or by members of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

While we must await official classification of all beasts by the Ministry of Magic (M.O.M), please include your opinion on a likely classification. The classifications are:

XXXXX	Known wizard killer / impossible to train or domesticate
XXXX	Dangerous /requires specialist knowledge / skilled wizard may handle
XXX	Competent wizard should cope
XX	Harmless / may be domesticated
X	Boring

Include as many of the following as are relevant:

• Different names (identify wizard and Muggle)
• Classification
• World distribution
• Interesting Muggle incidents
• History
• Interesting experiences: either personal stories or ones you have heard
• Pet suitability, suggested licensing or owner test requirements
• Desired food and habitat
• Pest management: Is the Pest Sub-Division ever needed and why
• Dangers or uses
• Parts used in potions or for other magical purposes
• Interactions with other beasts

To ensure that we do not get too many duplicate responses, we will publish submissions considered worthy of investigation. To protect your privacy from Muggle inquisitiveness (they may find this web site) we will publish only your initials, country, and, if provided, county, province, or state.
