Magic Stars

Muggles are not completely unaware of magic. Magic stars are one form of magic well known to many muggles. We are pleased to bring this interesting field to those who do not study numerology.

What is a magic star

A magic star is a set of numbers arranged in a star. When numbers on each line are totaled, the totals are all the same. In addition, each number is used once and only once. The example shown here, has the following line totals:

• 12 + 3 + 1 + 11 = 27
• 12 + 2 + 6 + 7 = 27
• 9 + 2 + 3 + 13 = 27
• 9 + 6 + 4 + 8 = 27
• 13 + 1 + 5 + 8 = 27
• 7 + 4 + 5 + 11 = 27

In order to make it easier to create stars that add up to different numbers, we have provided instructions and online development stars for:

• Five Point Stars, and how to draw them
• Six Point Stars, and how to draw them

The online development stars automatically total all lines and check for number duplications. It also provides instructions for finding values for stars with different totals. For some star totals more than one set of numbers can be used.

You can produce a star with a different total from the example provided, using a very simple method. We leave you to discover the method.
